Sociological Jurisprudence in Practice:
by Gunther Teubner The article discusses the potential of sociological jurisprudence in court practice and examines its effects in concrete cases. Current judicial decisions, selected from different European courts, will be scrutinized to determine whether alternative and socially adequate results can be reached when these decisions are confronted with sociological insights. In particular, the article deals with the problem of how the law reacts to social theory collisions, the issue of knowledge transfer from the social sciences to law, and the potential of social theory dealing with normative questions.
