Colombo Software and Patent Law: by Matteo Dragoni This article compares how software inventions are protected by patent law in Italy (and the European Patent Convention (EPC) system), United States and Japan. Notwithstanding said legal systems appear to be so distant one from the other, surprising similarities may be found. The article describes such findings and attempts to provide an explanation of the same by looking at the peculiarities of the legal systems involved and how the patent system itself operates internationally.
